Home Again!

Well, the Frankfort 5 made it home, safe and sound! (Yes, Ann & Larry's car made it too!) And I guess everyone else did too! (Hi, guys!! :0)

No time to blog--church in the AM! Just wanted to share these pictures of our final prayer together--per Tommy's request, the prayer ends by saying, "Amen" and breaking the huddle. So fun!
Click on the picture to see the end of the prayer!!
More tomorrow ... goodnight!

On the Road Again

Well, we're on our way "on the road again."

And it seems to me that this song is appropriate for today for a couple of reasons...

1) We miss our family and friends, our beds and showers and we're ready to get on the road again to come home!
2) And secondly, based on the conversations we've had in the last day or two, we CAN'T WAIT to get on the road again for another mission trip!

Last Night's Shenanigans

Well, it was a little rougher than usual getting up for our 6:30 AM breakfast this morning. We had a crazy night out the "Wild Horse Saloon," a line-dancing restaurant owned by the same company that owns Opryland.

First, we worked a half day at our work sites, then came home to clean up for our night on the town. Most of us traveled into Nashville in a pack then split up into groups to do some site-seeing, boot buying, and line-dancing!

My group (Sara, Paul, Cindy, Ann, Larry and myself) decided to go out in search of anything guitar or blue grass related. (Sara was looking for a guitar and Larry was looking for anything related to blue grass!)

Trying on hats at the Ernest Tubb record store

First we thought Jesus was looking down on us.
Then we realized it was Elvis.

Hap's New Haircut

Lest you think that a mission trip is all work and no play, you would be WRONG! And I've got the pictures to prove it!

After the youth led worship last night, they gave Hap a haircut. He had been letting his hair grow so that they had a little something to work with, since his hair is fairly short usually.

I could describe with words what went down ... but it would be best to let the pictures do the talking ...

(I'm a fan of the "front fringe!")
THEN ... Bob's daughters got HIM in on the act!

And just WAIT until you see pics from our night at the WILD HORSE SALOON! Let's just say there was line-dancing involved. (Pics to follow in the AM.)

It was REALLY nice to have a break this evening from our regular routine--breakfast at 6:30AM, work sites by 8:30AM, bag lunches at noon, and back to the church around 4:00PM.
This has been a looooong (but EXCELLENT!) week!

G'night!

Tommy's Shirt!

One of the mission trip traditions is to get a Presbyterian Disaster Assistance t-shirt as a keepsake (AND to be used as RECRUITING TOOLS for future trips!).

Tommy decided to make it even more special by getting all 43 members of our group to sign it!

Here it is ...

Youth Led Worship

This evening, the youth led the worship. And I suppose, if I had to use one word to describe the evening, it would be moving.

First, the youth performed a skit that can also be found on youtube.com. It's a silent skit performed to a song and it describes a person--while being tempted by the bad influences of the world--who keeps her eyes focused on God, who is always calling to us and reaching out for us.

Then we had a discussion about the temptations the grown- ups faced when they were young. Then several youths stood up and personally testified to the temptations they face. Sometimes they succeeded; other times, they failed.

It was a night of vulnerability and tears and love and forgiveness. It was a night that drew the group even closer together. And it was a night of many Kleenexes.

Sorry!

Sorry, friends for the gap in blogging today! I was on KP duty this afternoon and then we drove into Nashville to scope out the scene for our "night on the town" on Thursday.

Blogger does a little tracking of what posts are visited most frequently. By far you all seem to like the pictures the best. So here are some pics of today's adventures in Nashville...
