Today was our first day at our work sites! And judging from the lines to the showers, there was a lot of good, hard work done today!
My group went to a house where we did touch up painting along the baseboards, cleaned up the patio, scraped paint off the fireplace, and washed all the windows. I personally spent 2 hours cleaning up paint off of door hinges.
Exciting, right? Nor really. But here's the thing ... one of the questions I asked in the daily devotional I wrote for the group on this trip was: "Did you learn anything about yourself today?" And I did! I learned that I CAN do detail, finish work!
Even though I chose this type of work, I wasn't exactly sure how well I was going to do. Generally speaking, I have an uber-amount of patience with people (handy, since I'm a pastor and all!) but not so much with inanimate objects. So I wondered how well I was going to do with the hinges. And it worked out just fine!
